From an early age, Mike Coffey wanted to be an orthopaedic surgeon. When he was 13, he suffered multiple fractures in an accident, and he underwent several surgeries. He pursued a career in medicine from then on, and after receiving his medical degree from Creighton University (Go Jays!), he completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery, followed by fellowship training in hand and upper extremity surgery.
Dr. Coffey is a team physician for Creighton Prep athletics, and previously served eight years as team physician for Creighton University baseball.
In his free time, Dr. Coffey is an avid baseball fan and loves watching the New York Mets. He collects baseball autographs, and he’s a member of the local chapter of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, an Irish, Catholic, and charitable organization that organizes Omaha’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. He reads baseball books, biographies, and history books.
His wife Amanda, is from Louisville, Kentucky and they have a goldendoodle named Ollie, as well as an Irish wolfhound named Murray. He loves spending time with his four nieces and five nephews.
